Autodesk is a world leader in 3D design software for manufacturing, building, construction, engineering, and entertainment. Since introducing AutoCAD in 1982, Autodesk has developed a broad portfolio of 3D CAD software programs to help users visualize, simulate, and analyze the real-world performance of their designs. Autodesk partnered with Mad*Pow to help them bring a vision of a new sustainable building design product to life, and required teammates who understood interaction design and usability in addition to visual design.
Our goal was to create a vision prototype that would inspire their professional community by demonstrating the potential to build sustainable elements into the building design process. The team engaged in brainstorming, concepting and ideation sessions, documenting storyboards for key flows in the vision prototype. Once the conceptual designs were crafted, we presented a range of visual design options and generated animated content. We worked with product designers and marketing executives, collaborating seamlessly to offer different perspectives and present new ideas while staying true to their overall vision and goal. The team was able to leverage a 4’x8’ touchscreen interface to reflect the future of green building. The Greenbuild Prototype was unveiled at Greenbuild, the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. In attendance were over 30,000 industry and political leaders, including President Bill Clinton, who delivered the keynote address just prior to the prototype being revealed to the public.
